Silicone is a synthetic rubber that contains bonded silicon and oxygen. It’s a natural element that is abundant in sand and rock. Silicone bakeware  is known for its heat-resistance, and, is safe for the oven and freezer. It is stable, inert, not changing the flavor or releasing odors that affect food quality. Not only is it believed to have low toxicity and thermal stability.  It is non-stick, stain-resistant, easy to clean.

Silicone rubber can withstand a wider range of temperature extremes than nearly all other elastomers. Silicone can resist many extreme environments, is inherently  a fungus resistant material. It can also resist water and many chemicals, including some acids, oxidizing chemicals and, ammonia.
